Charter for the Lake Monona Neighborhood Association

February 22, 2005

 

1.  Mission                   The purpose of our Association shall be to promote the interests common to the neighborhood.

2.  Name                      Our Association shall be known as Lake Monona Neighborhood Association.

 

3. Membership              The Association shall be open to any resident of the Lake Monona Neighborhood. The Board of Directors shall maintain a membership list.

4. Meetings                   There shall be a general meeting held during the spring of each year.  There shall be additional meetings held at the request of the Board of Directors or upon written petition of twenty percent of the membership.  Notification will be made and may include flyers, e-mail and newspapers.  The meetings shall follow Roberts Rules of Order.

5.  Officers                   There shall be a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

6.  Duties                      In consultation with the Board of Directors, the President shall compose the agenda, conduct the meetings and provide broad leadership for the Association.

7.  Elections                  Officers shall be elected at a general meeting of the Association held in the second quarter.

8. Directors                  The Board of Directors shall be composed of the officers of the Association plus three at-large members elected at the general meeting in April.  The Board of Directors shall meet at the call of the President. In the event of a board member's resignation,

                                 the board may appoint a replacement to serve the rest of the term.

 

9.  Dues                       The Board of Directors may vote to recommend a schedule of dues subject to the approval of the general membership.

10. Committees            The Board of Directors may vote to establish committees which advance the goals of the Association.  In consultation with the Board, the President shall appoint members to the various committees.

11.  Amendment            A two-thirds majority of the Association's members may amend

                                 this Charter at an Association meeting the agenda for which

includes the suggested amendment.  2/3 majority of members attending the meeting?
